- Measure your beds and areas to be mulched. This does not have to be exact, but square off circles around trees and average irregular beds.
- Multipy the length times width to get your square footage. A bed 20' long x 10' wide would = 200 square feet.
- Now refer to the list below. Divide your square footage by the number associated with your desired mulch thickness. If you need to put mulch on 2" thick, you will divide your square footage by 162 to get the number of cubic yards.
- 2" thick....162 square feet
- 3" thick.....108 square feet
- 4" thick.....81 square feet
- 6" thick.....54 square feet
